AutoVirt Replication Policy
AutoVirt replication policies are designed to provide disaster recovery, data protection, and business continuity.   There are three replication topologies available:

  1. Availability: The master version of a data set is replicated to a second location.  Automatic client failover is enabled if the master becomes unresponsive, ensuring that clients have access to data in the event of a disaster.
  2. Centralization: Under a single policy, multiple master data sets are replicated to a single second location.  Failover is provided separately for each master version.
  3. Distribution: The master version of a data set is replicated to field offices and available in read-only form.  AutoVirt ensures “locality of reference” to minimize stress to the network –clients access the closest copy of the data.

Scheduling. A replication policy can be scheduled to run once or repeatedly during a recurring period – daily or at any frequency

Open file handling.  AutoVirt replication policies provide a best effort attempt at copying files.  If a file is found open or presents another exception, it is skipped

“After 50 years of advancements in commercial IT, why is it that year after year we still are talking about the same tactical challenges? Data migration is still a huge problem that everyone has to contend with – an issue exacerbated by exponential data growth. It is astounding to me that so few focus on solving this real-world problem.  Hat’s off to AutoVirt, who is doing just that. Out of the gate, the AutoVirt solution will help IT managers to overcome one of their greatest pain-points – Windows data migration.”
